Letter to Kathleen Kraninger, Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Re: Debt Collection Practices (Regulation F), or proposed amendment to Regulation F, 12 CFR part 1006
Experts and community members alike from across Maine say a lack of affordable dental care for adults is a serious problem. Poor dental health negatively impacts Mainers’ overall health, employability, communication, and social interaction.
Maine is one of only 10 states that provide emergency-only adult dental benefits. There are 20 states that provide comprehensive adult dental benefits and 16 that provide limited benefits. Cost is the most significant barrier to obtaining dental care, particularly for low-income adults. In 2015, three out of four low-income adults in Maine who did not visit the dentist in the past year indicated cost was the reason.
Even if you have never filed taxes before, the Child Tax Credit of 2021 is worth up to $3,600 per child. This is a big change. The Federal Government is helping families with children in a much bigger way!
